Gregory Monroe, 56 of Washington, D.C.

On Saturday February 3, 2018 Gregory "Greg" Monroe departed this life at Washington Hospital Center in Washington D.C.

Greg was born in Washington D.C., March 25, 1961 to Betty Ross and the late Charles Monroe.  He was baptized at an early age at Emanuel Baptist Church in Washington D.C. He received his education in the DC Public School System. Greg worked various jobs in DC, throughout his adult life.

His joy was watching movies, working on computers and fixing electrical appliances. He loved the Redskins. Gregory was an all-around guy who loved his family and the people around him. Not only was he was socially attracted to everyone he met, he looked out for everybody and did what he could for any and everybody he could.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tyrone Monroe, Charmon' Monroe and Charles Gutrick Sr.

His memories will be cherished by his mother, Betty Ross; sisters, Sylvia Warner, Jackie Ford (William), Michelle Ross; brothers, Wilbert Kelton, Raymond Ross (Denise); sister-in-law, Angela Gutrick; brothers-in-law, Antoine Pinkney and Reginald Warner, Sr; aunts, Alberta Branson, Annie Warren (Nathaniel), Shirley Lewis, Geraldine Ward and Vyria Mae Colby (James). He also leaves nieces, Tia Warner, Iesha Pinkney, Tara Ross, Shannon Ross, Ashley Ross, LaToya Kelton and Mercedes Ross; nephews, Reginald Warner (Niya), Calvin Warner, Rodriquez Monroe, Charles  Gutrick, Jr. (Isora), Keith Gutrick (Patrice) and a host of cousins and friends.

Memorial Visitation, 1:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2018 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland.
