The Story of Gregory Davis

Gregory Davis, affectionately known as Greg, was born, Friday, March 22, 1957, in Newark, New Jersey to Mary Ann Davis and Theodore Jackie Davis. Greg received his primary education in Hillside, New Jersey, graduating from Hillside High School. He later attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland and RETS Electronic School also in Baltimore, Maryland and received a Certification in Applied Electronics.

On October 12, 1986, Greg welcomed his daughter, Danielle Alyse Daley whom he cherished and shared a very special bond. This bond went way beyond a father-daughter relationship as they were traveling partners throughout the US as well as abroad.

Over the course of 40 years, Greg held several technical positions at companies in and around the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area, including: Sperry Univac and Qwest Communications, where he met and fell in love with his soulmate, Rene.  On July 9, 2005, Greg and Rene married and he became a bonus dad to her children, Chanelle and Jeffrey Neal.

Greg rededicated his life to Christ and joined Peace Baptist Church, Dunn Loring, Virginia, where he grew in his relationship with God. During his time at Peace Baptist, Greg was active in the men's ministry, teaching Vacation Bible School and served on the Pastoral selection committee.  He was loved and respected and always available to help wherever he was needed.

Greg was an avid reader and could be found reading several books at one time, ranging from fiction to biographies.  He also enjoyed watching sports and news programs and was known to give spirted commentary. Greg had a big personality and never met a stranger, from the youngest to the oldest.  In a room he was always able to spark a conversation no matter what the topic. Greg and Rene enjoyed frequent spontaneous road trips and adventures with friends and extended family members. He was always known to keep everyone laughing.  He always looked forward to the annual Davis Christmas celebration that he and Rene hosted in their home.

Early, Friday morning, May 12, 2023, Greg quietly transitioned to eternal life at his home, sitting in his favorite spot on the sofa with the television watching him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Davis, paternal grandparents, Dorothy and Robert Davis, maternal grandparents, George and Mary Jones, and mother-in-love, Yvonne T. Neal.

Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Rene Davis, loving daughter, Danielle Daley, bonus children, Chanelle and Jeffrey Neal; mother, Mary Ann Davis, sister, Michelle Davis, brother, Aaron Davis (Sophia); sisters-in-law; Shirley Harper, Rachel Muhummad, Sharon Wilkins, Frances Lucas (Frank), Roberta Smith, and Dannette Greene (John); brothers-in-law; Dwight Neal (Regina) and Robert Neal; devoted friends, Javier Colon, Sharon Hall, Frank Shay and Michael Wilkins and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles-in-law, cousins, and loving friends.
