WALLS, GLORIA VERMELL (AGE 81) OF WARSAW, VIRGINIA
Gloria V. Walls was born on August 9, 1941, in Washington, DC to the late Ida I. Butler and the late Samuel R. Butler. She received her education in the Prince George County School system and graduated from Fairmont Heights High School. Gloria dedicated over 40 years of her professional life to the private sector, retiring from Electronic Data Systems. During her retirement years, she dedicated her time as a substitute teacher at Rappahannock High school for several years.
Gloria had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought her immense pleasure. She derived joy from watching the Hallmark channel and indulging in her passion for baking, renowned for her delectable creations like butter pound cake, brownies, and cheesecakes. She participated in a bowling league and had a passion for collecting teapots. Gloria placed great importance on travel, and she consistently made it a priority to maintain connections with her beloved family and friends. She accomplished this by regularly sending birthday cards to everyone, ensuring they knew they were in her thoughts. Her considerate actions made each individual feel valued on their special day, establishing a tradition that will forever be treasured. Love and happiness served as guiding principles in Gloria's life, with the well-being of her loved ones at the forefront of her actions. As the matriarch of the family, Gloria held a maternal role that endeared her to everyone she touched.
In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar S. Walls, brothers Wayne and Patrick Butler, brother's in-law David and Mason Walls; sisters in-law Diane Walls-Tabron and Bernice Butler.
Gloria's cherished memories are perpetuated by her devoted family, which includes eight siblings: Samuel (Janet), Dale (Alberta), Aaron (Vicky), Joan Pinkney, Keith (Gayle), Dwight (Annie), Iris Butler and Lori Butler Harris. Two godchildren, Lori Butler Harris, and David Proctor, along with fifty-two nieces and nephews, forty-eight great nieces and nephews, and numerous great- great nieces and nephews.
