Gloria Yvette Daughtry, 78 of Waldorf, Maryland.

Gloria Yvette Daughtry was born May 13, 1946 and transitioned on May 9, 2025.  Gloria was born in Freedmen's Hospital in Washington DC to Benjamin Patrick Daughtry and Ruth Burnette Toliver who preceded her in death.

Gloria spent her childhood in Washington, DC where she attended Garnet Patterson Elementary and Dunbar Senior High Schools graduating from Dunbar with the Class of 1966.

In 1967 she met Sgt. Nathaniel Wood, Jr. at Quantico Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia and they were married on January 31, 1968. One child, Terrance Bruce Wood, was born from that union in February of 1969 at the Walter Reed Medical Center and transitioned shortly thereafter. Nathaniel and Gloria divorced in May 2000.

Gloria worked 34 years for the Federal Government at the Civil Service Commission (CCC). She recommended that the Agency be renamed Office of Personnel Management (OPM).  She never received credit for changing the name from the CCC to OPM.

Gloria worked for several government agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), World Bank and the U.S. Marshals Service. She retired in year 2000.

Gloria was a resident of Charles County for 33 years.

She is survived by several close friends nieces and nephews.

She will be missed.
