Davis, Gertrude Daisy Mae (Age 81) of Marbury, MD

Gertrude Daisy Mae Davis, 81, departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at her home in Marbury, Maryland.

Gertrude was born on June 13, 1935 in Harris, North Carolina where she was also educated. At age 20, she married her husband, Norman Davis (deceased 2004) and moved to Washington, D.C. They shortly thereafter moved to Marbury, Maryland, built a beautiful home and raised six children. She was a Deaconess, Missionary and a devoted member of PGMBC for over 50 years.

Gertrude worked various jobs, finally retiring from Charles County Department of Social Services after 29 years of service for foster parenting. Gertrude and Norman were recognized as "Foster Parents of the Year" in 2000, working with these children as if they were their own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Davis, parents, Booker T. and Carrie Harris, sisters, Juanita Harris and Curren Harris; brothers, Samuel, Othernell, and Rudolph Harris and her grandson, Wallace Maddox.

Gertrude leaves to cherish her memories, five sons, Bruce of Marbury, Maryland, Ronnie (Yvette) of Eugene Oregon, Gail (Karen) of West Depford, New Jersey, Albert (Diane) of Chester Virginia and Alan (Sabah) of Derry, Maryland; one daughter, Sharon Maddox (Paul) of Marbury, Maryland. Gertrude also leaves eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, brother, Caldwell Harris of Lawnside, New Jersey, sister, Marlene Harris, sister-in-law, Girlene Harris, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, brother-in-law, Theodore Davis, sister-in-law, Hattie Sue Roberts both of North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Her viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Marbury,MD. Interment Church Cemetery.
