Geraldine Alice (Johnson) Woodland (Age 102) of La Plata, Maryland
Geraldine (Gerry) Alice Johnson Woodland, daughter of the late Alonzo and Florence Johnson was born on June 2, 1918 in Pomonkey, Maryland. She gained her heavenly address on January 9, 2021. She was the oldest of three children. She received her education thru the Charles County School System. She was the oldest member of the Pomonkey High School Alumuni.
She was married to the late Charles Jones Woodland. They were married October 6, 1940. To this Union, they had one son Larry Aaron Woodland (deceased). They also raised Hallie Bell Awale and Foster Daughter Georgianna Jones. She was gainfully employed at La Plata Hospital and Bel Alton High School as a Custodian. She was the oldest member of the Kings/Bland and Johnson Family.
She loved going to Bingo and her favorite store was Burlington. She loved to go to eat at Marie's Restaurant in La Plata and getting her favorite Eclairs! She also loved Kentucky Fried Chicken. She loved going to the mall and just to watch people. Her favorite songs were I Won't Complain, Precious Lord and This Little Light of Mine. She was a Very Sassy Lady! Her favorite television shows were Let's Make A Deal, The Price Is Right and Family Feud. She was very active in the NAACP. She attended the famous March On Washington in 1963.
She attended Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Indian Head, Maryland. She was a lifetime member and she was the oldest member of the church. She was an Usher, United Methodist Woman and she was a great actress in plays at the church. She was raised in a Christian home where it was instilled in her to put God First in all you do.
She leaves to cherish her memories: A very Special Devoted Niece-Sandra Gray (David), she raised Foster Daughter Georgianna Jones and Hattie Awale. Daughter in Law-Carolyn Woodland. Grandchildren: Larry Antonio Woodland (David), Victor Savoy III, Tiffany Awale and Derek Smoot. Six great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her Parents, Alonzo and Florence Johnson, Husband, Charles Jones Woodland, Son, Larry Aaron Woodland, Sisters Gwen Johnson, Alease J. Washington. Brother Wallace Johnson (Agnes).
