Geraldine K. Jones (Age 77) of Savannah, Georgia.

On Tuesday, July 11, 2017, God called home a loving mother, wife, friend, and most of all an Angel of Life.  Mrs. Geraldine Kirkland Jones affectionately known as "Gerri" was born April 28, 1940 in Shelby, North Carolina to the loving parents of Frances Gaston Kirkland and J. D. Kirkland who preceded her in death as well as her four siblings (Charles, Frank, Bobby, and Gwendolyn).

Gerri lived a vibrant and bold life with love and laughter.  She started her basic education in the Virginia school system and completed her schooling in the Baltimore school system.  Gerri earned a Cosmetology license at Carver Tech in Baltimore, MD and worked for a while in this field.  She also tried her hand in Dry cleaning with Polly Prim and worked several years learning each position of the dry cleaning business.

Gerri was blessed with a devoted and loving daughter, Fredricka Lelitia Anderson.  She was later united in Holy Matrimony to Joseph Jones Sr. on November 10, 1983 and remained married for 33 years until her death.  Gerri then excelled to the banking arena with Riggs Bank where she worked for 16 years.  Once in Savannah, she continued the banking career until her retirement in 2012.  Gerri was a dedicated worker.

Mrs. Geraldine Kirkland Jones is survived by her husband Joseph Jones Sr., of Savannah, GA; four children: Fredericka Richardson of Oxon Hill, MD, Tracy Jones Swint of Greenwood, FL, Joseph Jones Jr. and LaKisha Jones of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren: Marcus Richardson of Oxon Hills, MD, Andreshia Speights of Altamonte Springs, FL; George Robinson Jr. of Greenwood, FL, Mackenzie, Maurice, and Diana of Atlanta, GA; two great-grandchildren: Jamarian and Julianna Robinson of Panama City, FL.  A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday, July 17, 2017 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD (Time TBD) and on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, viewing, 10:00 am until time of service, 11:00 am, Victory Christian Ministries International, 3911 St. Barnabas Road, Suitland, MD.  Interment, Washington National Cemetery, 1401 Suitland Road, Suitland, MD.
