Gerald Howard Wood, 76, of Clinton, Maryland

On Thursday, May 4, 2023, God our Father called his faithful servant, beloved father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Gerald Howard Wood home.

Gerald was born on March 2, 1946, to the late Theodore Howard and Rosa Marie Wood of Lynchburg, Virginia. He accepted Christ at the age of 13 and was baptized in the creek at Montpelier Baptist Church in Concord, Virginia.

Gerald attended Campbell County High School in Rustburg, Virginia. He later attended Culinary School when he relocated to Washington, DC.

He had an extended career as a chef and prepared meals in various elite restaurants adjacent to the White House. After retirement, he was Chef at DC's Receiving Home for Children for over a decade.

Gerald was a laid-back, quiet spoken and humble person. He even laughed quietly. He attended many family gatherings and parties but avoided the spotlight. In his downtime, he enjoyed a cold brew. Cooking was his passion and he shared this gift with family and friends constantly. You would always find his sisters and brothers bonding with him over food and recipes.

You could always count on him to prepare a dish for a Redskins game. He was a die-hard Redskins fan. You could tell when a game was on because he would be plastered in front of the TV wearing his Redskins jersey. You couldn't get a word out of him until after the game was over. He was super focused during game time.

Gerald is preceded in death by his twin sister, Jeraldine Flack.

Gerald was a family man and leaves behind to cherish his memories, his daughter, Michelle Clark, siblings; Delores (Tommie) Lawrence, Geneva (Larry) Bubes, Reginald Wood, Alfred (Mary) Wood along with three nieces, four nephews and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family and friends.
