Georgianna Evelyn Moore (Hackerson) Age (84)
of Washington, D.C.

On Monday, December 15, 2014, Georgianna Evelyn Moore quietly entered eternal rest at Med Star Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, MD. She was born on December 21, 1929 in Pisgah, Maryland to the late Joseph and Aline Hackerson. Georgianna was affectionately called "Georgie" by those who knew her and was one of ten children.

Georgianna was educated in Charles County Public Schools, however, she moved to Washington, D.C. at an early age and made the city her home for most of her adult life.

Georgianna's working career included employment as an Explosive Operator for the Federal Government and for a season she was a waitress, cook and bartender . She worked for such establishments as Nob Hill and Dixie Bell. She loved to cook. Every Christmas and Thanksgiving the family would gather at her home in Washington, DC to have dinner. It was a tradition for her to make her granddaughter, Lynette, a chocolate cake every year for her birthday. In her later years, everyday, Georgianna would walk to the store to get a newspaper and play the number. She was very good with arts and crafts and loved to put rhinestones and paint on pictures. She also liked to paint her nails, do word searches, play Bid Whisk and Pokeno. Georgianna had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to crack jokes. She was a feisty, loving and funny lady.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her only child, Jeanette Rogers, siblings; Francis Penny,  Viola Harvey, Fannie Datcher and Margie Smith.

Left to cherish her memory is her granddaughter, Evelyn Lynette Rogers, grandson, Charles "Rickey" Rogers, great grandchildren; Janee and Darius Rogers, siblings; Robert Penny, Irma Proctor, Marion Aleshire, Melvin Hackerson (Patricia), Patricia Wheeler (Floyd) and many nieces, nephews, her aide of 44 years, Clara, and other relatives and friends.

Viewing, 10:00 a.m. until time of Service, 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2014, in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.

Interment, National Harmony Memorial Park, Hyattsville, Maryland
