LIVERS, GEORGE FRANCIS (AGE 93) OF POMFRET, MARYLAND

George Francis Livers of Pomfret, Maryland departed this life on Wednesday morning August 7, 2024 at the Complete Care Center in La Plata Maryland.

George was born January 6, 1931 to the late Bender M. and the late Henrietta Hicks Livers in Wicomico Charles County, Maryland.   George attended public school in Charles County. While there he was affectionately nicknamed "Tippy."

In his formative years he was raised by his widowed father on a tenant farm. There he developed a love of farming.  In July 1954 he joined the army and serve two years.  In May 1955 he was united in matrimony to Lillian Hawkins.  From this union they were blessed with seven children.

After returning from the Army, "Tippy" went back to work on the farm.  As their family began to grow, "Tippy" and Lillian decided it was time to find a more lucrative job.  In 1966 he went to work for Charles H. Thompson Construction Company in Washington DC. He remained in the construction industry for 25 years.

"Tippy" retired in 1992 and got to enjoy the fruits of his labor mainly from the garden he planted every spring and also the time he spent at Saint Matthews church doing maintenance jobs.

Other things that gave him joy was family gatherings, going to church on Sundays and being an usher, daily reading the Upper Room and our Daily Bread devotionals. He loved word search puzzles, watching TV and spending time in his shed playing solitaire.  He would often in awe say "I am really blessed!" and he was!

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 69, Lillian and his children, George Jr. (Tracy), David (June), Audrey, Jimmy, Lynn, Adam and Todd (Yolanda), and 12 grandchildren; Sha"Dana, David, Jr, Montrell, Deidra, Santana, Tiara, Mayah, George, III, Jo' Wan, Vincent, RahDay and Ya'Daysha.  A special nephew, James Francis Livers.

"Tippy" will also be remembered with love by many nieces, nephews relatives, and friends.

His viewing will be held from 9:00am until time of service, 10:00am on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.
