IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geneva Estell
Rose
November 20, 1950 – July 8, 2020
Rose, Geneva Estell (Age 69) of Accokeek, Maryland
Geneva Estell Rose was born in Wingina, Virginia on November 20, 1950, the eldest daughter of the late Clarence Herbert Rose and Judy Estell Nicholas Rose.
Geneva committed her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Mt. Ennon Baptist Church in Clinton, Maryland, where she served on the Culinary and Women's Ministry. She was educated in the Nelson County Public School System in Lovingston, Virginia. She later moved to Washington, DC and settled in Prince George's County, Maryland for more than 50 years.
Throughout her career, Geneva held multiple positions. She was employed by the Hecht Company in Washington, DC for nearly 30 years, where she remained until the company dissolved. She had several talents and utilized those gifts to become an entrepreneur. Her multiple businesses included wedding planning, floral arrangement and catering.
In the early nineties, she was a member of social organizations where she often organized and hosted numerous events to include cabarets, fashion shows and vending opportunities for local small business owners. She enjoyed having a good time. At parties and other celebrations, she was often seen hand dancing and displaying her dance moves.
Her social activity led her to join the Order of Eastern Star. She held numerous positions throughout the organization for over two decades. Her dedication to the organization was immeasurable. She diligently served on several committees leading to several elected positions. After working unselfishly for years, she was elected as the State Grand Loyal Lady Ruler in 2018. She currently holds the title of the "Most Ancient Matron" for Fairmount Court 8 (Rahab Grand Court). During her tenure, she formed two new assemblies, Prince Hall Assembly, Order of the Golden Circle, PHA, increasing membership for the Willard W. Assembly State Grand Assembly.
Geneva had a generous and servant heart. She enjoyed community service and volunteered at various organizations such as Howard University (Feed the People); S.O.M.E (So Others Might Eat); Charles County Shelter for the Homeless, providing clothing for mothers and child victims of domestic violence; adopt a school projects and Christmas in April, to name a few.
She loved her four children dearly and shared a special relationship with each of them. Many of their friends often claimed her as their mother and she welcomed them with open arms. She was a proud grandmother and loved to share the number of grand and great grandchildren she had. Affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren, she enjoyed their trips to McDonald's, laughing, spending time and watching her "stories" (Young & the Restless) with them.
Although the time seemed short, Geneva lived a full life. For 69 years she touched many people, family, friends and anyone she came across. She was a joy to be around. Over the past month, while battling cancer, her strength and courage were undeniable. God was preparing her to be with Him in Glory. Geneva transitioned peacefully on July 8, 2020.
Geneva was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence Herbert Rose Jr. and Israel Franklin Rose; sister, Rebecca Oretha (Rose) Wells and grandson, Barry J. Allen Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Life Partner and Caregiver, Dennis Scott; three sons, Clarence Allen, Joseph Allen and Barry Allen; daughter, Carla Mason (Shaun); sister, Blanchie Gerrald(James); brother, Milton Rose (Carol); Grandchildren, Keyonna Allen, Delontae Allen, Brandon Allen, Bria Allen, Joseph Allen, Jr., Abena Allen, Akosua Allen, Jasmine McNair, Yarsheka Picket, Jada Lewis and Shayla Mason.
