COLBERT, GARY E. (AGE 65) OF SUITLAND, MD
Gary Earl Colbert son of the late Earl and Florence Colbert was born September 11, 1949 in Chapel Hill, Maryland. He departed this life the morning of December 19, 2014 at his home in Suitland, Maryland.
Gary received his education in Prince George's County Public Schools.
Gary worked as a laborer for many years; however, he was best known for his unique talent in home improvements. Gary eventually became a successful self-employed contractor and leaves behind beautiful renovation work that speaks for his talent.
Gary was known as Pop-Pop to his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. His favorite past times included Sunday rides through the country with his sweetie Roslyn, fishing on his boat, hand dancing, watching Redskins games and western cowboy movies.
While we all knew and loved Gary, what we will all cherish and remember is his infectious laugh and smile. Gary was "Unc" to his nieces and nephews, "Gas Milla and Chuck Brown" to others. It's impossible to capture in words what Gary's life meant to us, so we ask each of you to remember Gary in your own special way and to always keep his love for life in your heart.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Florence Colbert, and his sister Earline Coleman. Left to cherish fond memories are three children Jamaar Colbert, Emanuel Mansfield and Dana Dorsey; three sisters, Gloria Mae Swann (Elmer), Margie Colbert (Mike), and Lisa West (Clyde); one brother Kerry Colbert (Kay); beloved friend Roslyn Briscoe; two aunts Beatrice Blake and Gwendolyn Covington; devoted niece Tina Harris and nephew Eric Swann; eight grandchildren Quintin Colbert, Juwan Stewart; Samarion, Samya, Samani Mansfield; Darelle, Daniele, Diamonte Dorsey and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Viewing 9am until time of service 11am, Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Grace United Methodist Church, 11700 Old Fort Road, Fort Washington, MD 20744. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
