HAMN, FREDERICK H. (AGE 84) OF MANASSAS, VIRGINIA
Frederick Hamilton Hamn "Freddy" or "Freddy Boy" was born on March 27, 1930, in Stafford, Virginia to the late Frederick and Annie Hamn. He was one of 12 children. He peacefully departed this life on October 29, 2014.
Frederick attended school in Stafford, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired as an Explosive Specialist from Indian Head Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland. After he retired, he drove a school bus for various Charles County Public Schools.
Until his illness, he was a dedicated member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Charles County, Maryland. He faithfully attended Sunday school, prayer service and supported other programs within the church. Frederick also was a dedicated member of the Masonic Temple Bee Hive Lodge No. 66, Bryans Road, Maryland for over 50 years; he held the position of Tyler until 2010.
Frederick had two loves, no three: his wife Marie, hunting, and sweets. He always kept four things with him: his set of keys, flash light, watch, and pocket knife. He loved to laugh and joke with people and tell great stories about his special squirrel and deer hunts. He liked to give people nicknames like Big Head and Bean Head. He also would tease people about their weight or size and give descriptive nicknames like slim, skinny, half pint and heavyweight. More importantly, Frederick was a caring man that was always willing to assist anyone who needed help.
Frederick was joined in holy matrimony on May 14, 1955 to Marie C. Hamn (deceased). Marie and Frederick have seven children, Chester Newman (deceased)(Carolyn), Theodore "TC" Newman (Ruby), Terry Hamn (Florence), Eunice Hawkins (Cornell), Necola Cook, Lorri Hamn, Larry Hamn (Alice) and a special "like a son" Thomas "Tommy" Bowman (Janice).
Left to cherish his memory are his children, and two sisters Phyllis George of Harrisburg, PA and Ella "Coley" Talley of New York, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his family and lifelong friends—Messrs. Floyd Johnson, Thomas Silladay and Larry Swann.
His viewing will be held from 6pm until 8pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Mt.
