Obituary
On Wednesday, July 21, 2021, Francis Theodore Weedon beloved husband of Shirley, quietly and peacefully entered into rest at his home at the young age of 89. He was born on April 10, 1932, to the late Alberta Beander Weedon and George Weedon. He was the second of six children. He was raised in Poolesville, Maryland and was educated in the Montgomery County Public School system. At the early age of sixteen he graduated from Lincoln High School in Rockville, Maryland.
He went on to further his education at Hampton University, majoring in Industrial Arts. Three years into his academic career, his education abruptly ended due to the passing of his mother. He then enlisted into the US. Air Force serving his country for eight years during the Korean War.
Francis has a long history of working with children. In the 1960's for seven years, he worked as a counselor at the Forrest Heaven Home for the delinquent and mentally challenged. He was also inducted into the Boys Scouts of America, where he was a Scout Master at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Washington, DC.
Francis loved the Lord, and was baptized on October 11, 1975, into the Seventh Day Adventist faith. Being a member of the Pisgah Seventh Day Adventist Church for over Forty years, he served in multiple capacities, from Elder, Head Deacon, Usher and Pathfinder Director. In 1987 He became a Master Guide, which formed the bridge of him becoming the Area Coordinator for the Virginia, Baltimore & Harrisburg Areas. He has since become the Executive Adventurer Coordinator, traveling, training and developing Adventurer Clubs throughout the Allegheny East Conference. Under his leadership many clubs were developed, and he continued to train and work developing young leaders through the Adventurer and Pathfinder Associations.
Francis leaves to mourn his wife Shirley, his daughter Francesca (Michael), his son Daniel White, Jr., four grandchildren: Kiana, Cristofer, Daniel White, III and Josiah Green, two sisters, Emily Gardner and Ellen Beckwith, and one brother George Weedon, and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends and family.
His viewing will be held from 9:00am until time of Service 11:00am on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at the Pisgah Seventh Day Adventist Church, 5830 Bumpy Oak Road, Bryans Road, MD 20616. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
