Francis Clay Barnes of Bryans Road, Maryland peacefully transitioned on November 19, 2024.

Francis Clay Barnes, affectionately known as "Clay," was born on April 25, 1947 to Edward "Eddy" Barnes and Edna Elizabeth Barnes. He departed his earthly life entering heaven's gate on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the UM Charles Regional Medical Center, La Plata, Maryland.

Francis received his formal education in the public schools of Charles County, Maryland. In later years Clay met and married Joan Dent.           He worked and retired from Prince George School System as Maintenance Supervisor.

Clay enjoyed fishing, traveling and the casinos. He loved watching westerns on television. He was a wonderful cook, and his meals was enjoyed by many.   He also was a big fan of the Commanders Football Team and Nationals Baseball Team.   Clay also enjoyed car shows and the racetrack.

Clay was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Edna Barnes and wife Joan Dent Barnes.

Clay will be cherished and remembered by his significant other Sandra Diane Scriber of Hollywood, MD, sister Edna Brown Durham of Williamsburg, VA, brother Paul Darnell Barnes of La Plata, MD, stepson Maurice Dent and great grandson Maurice Dent, Jr., brothers-in-law Donald Dent and Alfred Durham and sisters- in-law, Doris Dent and Kay Steverson; aunts Mrs. Marion Barbour of Pisgah, MD and Mrs. Ethel Adams of Barhamsville, VA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special cousins and friends Frank "Tony" Barnes and James "Sonny" Gray.

His viewing, Tuesday, December 3, 2024, 10 a.m. until time of Service at 11a.m. in The Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
