IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frances Matilda
Thompson
March 20, 1938 – April 19, 2023
Frances Matilda (Tillie) Thompson was born on March 20, 1938, in Bryans Road, MD and peacefully departed her earthly life at home at 12:08 pm on April 19, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father Daniel Adolph Thompson, Sr; mother Frances Louise Short Thompson; brother Daniel Adolph Thompson, Jr.; and sister Elaine E. Thompson-Rodriguez.
Tillie graduated from Pomonkey High School in the Class of 1956 and was a member of the Pomonkey HS Alumni Association. She began her 41 years of Federal Government career in 1957, at the Naval Research Laboratory (District of Columbia) as a Technical Information Specialist of the Research Reports Section in the Ruth H. Hooker Research Library. What can be said; Tillie was Tillie. She was an avid rowdy Dallas Cowboy fan and loved joining in on football pools. It was nothing for her to barbecue, having a yard full of family and friends having a good time eating, playing cards "Tonk", and dancing to the music. She loved her jazz, shouting out "mercy" when it sounded real good to her, as well as, enjoying attending the Hampton Jazz Festivals. She also loved playing the lottery and scratch-off tickets. Her favorite spots to hang out were Penny's Tavern, Ford's Wonder Bar, and the American Legion Post 170 where she frequently kept music up-to-date on the jukebox.
Tillie leaves to celebrate her life, sister-in-love Diann Thompson; nieces Renee Wheeler and Bridget Thompson; nephews, Petey (Melessia), Michael, Anthony Wheeler and Daniel Thompson, III; great-nephews Terence Lewis and Juwan Baker; great nieces Jasmine, Shanice and Briana Wheeler; God daughters Jenneetta Brown and Tracy Brooke Sneed; a host of family, friends, and acquaintances.
