HAIRSTON, FRANCES MARIE (AGE 75) OF WASHINGTON, D.C.
On May 2, 2015, after a brief illness, our Lord and Savior Jesus called our beloved Frances Marie Hairston home. She was born on July 27, 1939 in Washington D.C. to the late Samuel Brown, Sr. and the late Bernice Brown.
Frances received her education in the District of Columbia Public School System, and graduated from Mary Margaret Washington Vocational High School in 1956.
After graduating High School, she met Alma Hairston, they later married on March 3, 1960. From this union four children were born; Yvette Brown, Darryl Hairston, Anita Hairston and Wayne Hairston.
Frances worked for the Federal Government with the General Service Administration for three years as a Clerk before starting a full-time career with the United States Postal Services. She retired after thirty-five years of dedicated service.
Frances accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very young age and attended Purity Baptist Church for many years. Later she joined Mount Moriah Baptist Church and served on different ministries.
Frances loved people and truly had a contagious personality; she could always be found talking or witnessing to people about the Lord and her own experiences. Her warm smile could light up a room, and she treated everyone like family and never made you feel strange.
In addition to her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her husband, Alma Hairston, brother, Samuel Brown Jr., sister, Annie Jackson, brother-in-law, George Jackson, Sr., oldest daughter, Yvette Brown and nephew, Charles Brown, Jr.
Left to cherish many fond memories are her loving brother, Charles Brown, Sr. who she truly loved and respected and was there for her from beginning to end, thick and thin; devoted daughter, Anita Hairston, loving sons, Darryl Hairston (Tina), Wayne Hairston (Phyllis), sister-in-law, Annie Mae Brown, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her Viewing will be held from 10am until time of Service 11am on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 1636 East Capitol Street, N.E., Washington, D.C. 20003. Interment follows in the National Harmony Memorial Park, Hyattsville, Maryland.
