MASSEY, FLORA A. (AGE 71) OF CLINTON, MD.
On Saturday, December 28, 2013, our Heavenly Father called to eternal rest our dearly beloved mother, sister, niece, aunt and grandmother, Flora Ann Massey. She was the eldest child of the late William Irving Jones and Queenie Taylor Jones having been born in Richmond, Virginia on March 6, 1942.
Flora was educated in the Richmond Public School system graduating from Armstrong High in 1960 were she was a member of the Mighty Wildcats Cheering Squad. After high school, Ann as many called her, furthered her education at Smith Dale Massey Business School and J. Sargent Reynolds Community Colleges earning a degree in Business. Ann held an accounting position for the City of Richmond for years before taking a position with the U.S. Government in Washington D.C. She worked for the government several years before an almost fatal vehicle accident contributed to an early retirement. Ann spent several years assisting at the Progressive Christian Academy before officially retiring.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at the Trinity Baptist Church in Richmond, VA under the pastorate of the late Rev. King David Turner. Her parents made sure she attended Sunday School, BTU and The Youth Progressive League at that church. Once the family moved to the Washington area, Ann became affiliated with the Church of the Great Commission and later The Progressive Church.
Ann was a warm and compassionate person. She enjoyed the company of people as well as enjoying sewing, always doing something with crafts. Often times, one could find her in the kitchen preparing delicious meals for others.
The family takes faith in knowing that her life on earth is fully completed and she is now resting from labor and suffering. We know to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!
Cherishing her memories are four devoted sons, William Jr (Sonia fiancée), Roderick (Tracy), Clifford (Marilyn) and Rev. Don (Karyn); Chadon Smith (God daughter), sister Patricia Jones-Jackson, Richmond, VA; three aunts, Mary J. Drumgole, Martha Jones, Richmond, VA and Corrine T. Paige (Preston) Capitol Heights, MD; eighteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many devoted friends.
On Saturday, December 28, 2013, Flora Ann Massey of Clinton, MD stepped into eternity.
Her viewing will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 9:00am until time of Service 11:00am at Trinity Baptist Church, 2671 Mattawoman Beantown Road, Waldorf, MD 20601.
