Ferdinand Geoffrey Hemsley affectionately known as "Fred, King, and King Fish" of White Plains, Maryland was born October 30, 1958, to the parents of Peter and Matilda Hemsley. Fred was also blessed with bonus parents, the late William "Gus" and Dorothy "Dot Dot" Hilton, and his Stepmother Doris Hemsley. Fred attended Charles County public schools.
On May 10, 1985, Fred married the love of his life Robin Ann Washington and became a bonus dad to her son Robert Darnell Framer. November 8, 1980, Fred and Robin welcomed their baby girl Ida Hemsley into this world and for over 38 years they continued to build a loving blended family. They often hosted family gatherings at their home and annual family trips.
Fred gave his life to Christ and grew in his relationship with God. He was one of the charter members and ordained ministers of the New Covenant Jubilee Church under his pastors the late District Elder Horace and Dr. Barbara Williams. He was a faithful church member for over 30 years, serving in many capacities (i.e., board member, usher, deacon, choir member, hospitality, etc.). His infamous string beans was a favorite item on almost every church dinner menu. Fred loved God and loved to praise God. He would often express his praise in a Hallelujah shout and a high leap.
Fred worked over 40 years at Morgantown (Pepco) Power plant in Newburg, MD. Fred was a hardworking man, while still working with Morgantown he joined the Spring Dell Center family and continued to work with them for over 20 years. Upon ending his career with Morgantown, Fred started a new journey with Charles County Public Works. Fred was an avid fisher who loved working in his yard, cleaning his vehicles and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a very neat man and took pride in his appearance. You could find him on Sundays in his suit, tie and shiny shoes.
