Obituary

F. LOUISE JACKSON (AGE 100) OF CLINTON, MARYLAND

Fannie Louise Jackson, loving known to all as Louise Jackson, peacefully, at home in her sleep, moved into her Heavenly Father's Home on Sunday, March 18, 2018. She was born the youngest of two children to Rosie Lee and Ezel Watson on January 30, 1918 in Gum Springs Virginia.

Louise attended Virginia schools and later during her working career pursued her degree in Community Relations from American University in Washington DC. In 1962, until her retirement, she was employed in Community Relations with the United Planning Organization (UPO), and Peoples Involvement Corporation (PIC) both in Washington, DC. In 1968 Louise founded the 3 rd District DC Police Department Community Relations Program where she held the office of President. Her continued work in community relations, her idea for the program was to fight for youth rights during the riots. Not content with being retired, Louise worked with the Foster Grandparent Program in Washington, DC, working with children under the supervision of DC Superior Court.

Louise worked on Washington, DC's first mayoral campaign electing the late Mayor Walter Washington and later assisted on all for the late Mayor Marion Barry.

Known as Big Mamma or Nana, and NaNa to her younger grands, she was a mother or grandmother to everyone who crossed her path. Often taking the time to deliver food, bread and vegetables to anyone she may have thought needed it.

Three of her most favorite mottos were, first, "If the Hebrew boys were here now they would tell you GOD is so good," sometimes following with, "Love a child wear a smile and I'll be with you in a little while" which many often heard on her voicemail when calling her. The other was "If I can help somebody along the way, then my work will be done." She lived up to each of her mottos faithfully until her passing.

Louise joined the United House of Prayer for all People in Alexandria, VA under the leadership of Bishop C.M. Grace in 1938. She loved the House of Prayer dearly.  In her early years you could often catch her working in Charlotte Missions kitchen. She was a member of the #1 Ushers, the Chimes, and the Jubilee Course. Some of her other affiliations were with the Universal Order of the Eastern Star where she held positions as Worthy Matron and Grand Worthy Matron. She held membership with the National Black Congress for Women (DC Chapter) and the Black Women in Sisterhood for Action. Knowing her love and loyal dedication for children, she worked with Mayor Barry's Youth Leadership Institute in Washington, DC, and participated with the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development Pathway to Freedom Program in Detroit Michigan.

Louise has received many awards and accommodations such as Channel 9 One and Only 9 Award, 1 st Mother of Mayor Marian Barry's Youth Leadership Institute and many others.

Preceding her in death was her brother Charles Watson, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Lonnie Gooding, Sr., three grandchildren, Glenn Coleman, Sr., Charles Kea II, D'Armond Brooks, Jr., and three great-grandchildren.

Leaving to cherish her loving memories are her three children, Lolita Brooks of Clinton, MD; Phyllis and Phillip Bean of Washington, DC; one son-in-law, D'Armond Brooks, Sr.; ten grandchildren Curtis Kea III, Tina Hester (Christopher), Lonnie Gooding, Jr., YaLeta Brooks-Roundtree (Antonio), Kendall (Calia) and Keivon Brooks, Mckiya Bean, Kevin Bean, Chyna Bean, Kayden Bean, one niece, Mary Webster of Lynchburg, VA, twenty-three great-grandchildren, fourty-two great-great grandchildren, thirty-eight great-great-great grandchildren, devoted friend Lorraine Grimaldi, god-daughters, Ella McCall-Hagan and Denice Perry-Fuller; devoted god-granddaughters, Kathleen Vann "Chew Chew", Gerdine Dargan and a host of other family members and friends.
