Evelyn Mae Swann, 88 of Marbury, Maryland.

Evelyn Swann was born on February 26, 1937 in Virginia and raised in Washington DC. She resided in Southern Maryland for over 50 years. She went home to our Lord and Savior on December 9, 2024.

While employed at Southern Maryland Electric Company, Evelyn started as a receptionist then advanced to a Procurement Specialist until the day she retired on October 29, 2004. She was the first African American woman to work for SMECO for 36 years.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Jimmie Terry and Terry Swann; one daughter; September Smith; two daughters-in-law, Adrienne Terry and Winzola Swann and a son-in-law, Willie Smith.

Evelyn is predeceased by her mother, Lucille Barrett and her son, Timothy Swann.

Evelyn was loved by her four grandchildren; Taudalaya Swann, Trae Swann, Tenika Avila and Terry Swann.

Family & Friends Gathering will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 from 11:00 am, until time of Memorial Service, 12 noon in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
