Obituary

Affectionately known as "Diamond," Evelyn Lynette Rogers was born on December 17, 1972, in Washington, D.C., to Jeanette Marie Rogers and Charles Frank Rogers. She attended Suitland High School, attended Lincoln Tech, and completed Job Corps.

Diamond's career blossomed when she became an armed security officer, serving for several years with the Department of Homeland Security. Her adventurous spirit and love for travel led her to contract with companies such as Coastal International Security Inc., Deco Corp, and NVE, Inc., taking her to Ecuador, Beijing, Chad, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, the Bahamas, and eventually, Morocco. As a Cleared American Guard and Construction Surveillance Technician, she dedicated over a decade to her work with the U.S. Embassy.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Diamond had a passion for life. She spent her free time engrossed in true crime series like SNAPPED, The First 48, and Forensic Files. She was an avid spades player, a devoted Washington Commanders fan, and the life of the party—always dancing, bringing loved ones together, and spreading joy. And she absolutely loved her 1992 Ford Bronco, or as she called it, "The OJ". We looked forward to her trips home during the summer where she gifted everyone souvenirs from her latest travel and threw her annual Welcome Home cookout. The world was undoubtedly a better place with her in it. She was a generous, hardworking, and kind-hearted provider with a goofy spirit that brought joy to those around her.

Sadly, on January 20, 2025, Diamond transitioned at the age of 53, leaving behind cherished memories of love, laughter, and excitement. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, godmother, friend, and a generous sponsor to a young girl in Africa.

Diamond is survived by her daughter, Janee M. Rogers; her brother, Charles R. Rogers; her nephew, Darius R. Rogers; her adopted daughter, Chiquita Bailey; and her grand-goddaughter, Serenity J. James. And she will be deeply missed by a host of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

While we are heartbroken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Diamond's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
