Obituary

YATES, EUNETHA S. (AGE 92) OF SUITLAND, MD

Eunetha Sims was born on December 10, 1920, in Newberry, South Carolina. She was one of six children, born to the late David and the late Mamie D. Sims.

In addition to her parents, Eunetha was preceded in death by her four (4) brothers, David, Jr., Edmund, Macco, Grady L. and one (1) sister, Katherine (Sims) Parham.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and began a lifelong love relationship that was demonstrated through her gentle love, kindness and compassion.

In August 1944, Eunetha married the late Charlton O. Yates in Washington, D.C. and from this union six children were born. She proudly earned her high school diploma as she was raising her children and later held a position as Budget Analyst for the Internal Revenue Service. She retired from the federal government after more than thirty years. Eunetha loved bowling and playing games and loved playing practical jokes with her children when they were young. She loved cooking, shopping at thrift stores and yard sales with her faithful shopping companion "Mickey D," her son-in-law. She deeply loved her family and loved and accepted anyone her children brought to meet her.

Mrs. Yates was a member of Peoples Church for several years, and was a bible scholar who loved to read and study the Word. Even through her illness, she found comfort in visits from her church family, and in hearing the Word of God.

On Friday, November 15, 2013 at 3:35 p.m., Eunetha Yates went home to be with the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memories her six children, Carlethia A. (Willie) Dillard, Carlton O. (Deirnee) Yates, Verna M. Yates, Deborah J. Adams, Elder Kenneth D. (Elder Renee) Yates, and Minister Robert M. (Sherry) Yates. She is also survived by (17) and children: Andreitta, Anton, Carlton, Debra Diamond, Donice, John Robert, Keith, Nathaniel (Brittany), Nyla, Paul, Richard, Robin, Tracy (Michael), Kenny Jr., Shayla, Tramaine (Shaun), (19) great-grandchildren, her church family and a host of friends.
