Obituary

Eugene Francis Johnson Sr. was born, January 1, 1938 to the Viola Mary Johnson and George Leo Ford in Indian Head, Maryland.

He was educated in the Charles County public school system and was a construction worker by trade and took great pride in the work he did.

Eugene enjoyed spending time with his family and lived life to its fullest.  Eugene "Gene" as he was affectionately known was a good man who took good care of his family.  He enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, brothers/sisters, nieces/nephews and friends, talking trash, playing cards and cutting up.  He loved going to Tracey and Lennie's house for parties, he knew he would be able to sit back and enjoy some good food and shoot the breeze with many people.  He loved to brag about his beloved Camaro in which he loved to work on and always felt it was worth a million dollars, even though that was a bit exaggerated. He loved to watch a plethora of tv series such as Cash Cab, Matlock, The Flintstones, Everybody loves Raymond, Andy Griffith and his favorite Westerns, Gunsmoke, MASH, and Rifle Man with his beloved wife, the late Joyce Johnson.  His children watched so many episodes with him, they could probably recite each one.

When Eugene was initially admitted to rehab, we would go over to the nursing home and spend hours just laughing and talking about everything.  When he talked, he could talk your ears off, he was never at a loss for words.  When he could no longer speak, we often longed for those long conversations once more.  We will miss the visits, the excited tears he would shed when his loved ones walked in his room and giving him reassuring touches to let him know how much he meant to us.  I know he will miss the dances and silly things Tracey did to make him laugh.

We all LOVED our Dad, good, bad and indifferent and we loved him that way until he took his last breath.

Eugene Francis Johnson, Sr., transitioned to eternal life, Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at SagePoint Senior Living Services in La Plata, Maryland.
