Eugene DeSales Ford, Sr. of Waldorf, MD transitioned November 20, 2023.
I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course and I have kept the faith.
II Timothy 4:7
A Time to be Born: Eugene D. Ford, Sr., was affectionately called "Gene" by his family. He was the youngest of seven, born in Mount Victoria, MD to the late Wilson Woodrow and Louise Emma Ford.
A Time to Be Educated: Eugene received his formal education in the Charles County Public School system, graduating from Bel Alton Junior/Senior High School.
A Time to Embrace: Eugene was blessed to have eight children, seven girls and one boy. In 1994, he married Barbara Jean (preceded in death in 2020) and along with his children, he opened his heart to two stepchildren, Sharron and Anthony.
A Time to Serve: Raised in a Christian home, Eugene loved the Lord and loved gospel music. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, MD.
A Time to Work and Play: Eugene was employed with the Prince Georges County Public school system, before he started working for the State Highway Administration on November 29, 1978 and retired June 20, 2010, after 32 years of service. Eugene was an avid bowler with the Sunday Night Mixers, played with the Regulators Softball Team and was a coach for a basketball team. He also loved to hand dance, sing, ride his bike and fish. Gene also was definitely a TRUE fan of the Dallas Cowboy Team.
A Time to Mourn: Eugene leaves to cherish his memory his seven girls, Renee Cobb, Angela Ford-Cook (Marlon), Cheryl Ford-Johnson (Michael), Contina Brown, LaTabia Ford, Leisha Wood, Tamica Pickeral and his one and only son, Eugene Ford, Jr.; step children, Sharron Miles and Anthony Miles; god-daughters, Lisa Boggs and Kandance Johnson and god-sons Nathan (Nacey) Thomas, Adam Holton and Bradford (Brad) Farmer; fifteen grandchildren and one step-grandson; four great-grandchildren; two sisters Odessa Ford and Barbara Farmer (James); a devoted niece, Bridgette Govan and a HOST of other relatives and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Ford and Betty Ford-Haggins and brothers Leroy and Thomas Ford.
