Etone Wayne
Bowles
January 20, 1951 – July 30, 2021
Rev. Mr. Etone Wayne Bowles, 70 of Herndon, Virginia.
Obituary
Reverend Etone "Wayne" Bowles was born January 20, 1951 to Samuel Edward Bowles, Sr. and Edythe Thornton Bowles in Washington, DC. He was the fourth of five children from that union. Surrounded by his loving family, Wayne peacefully departed this life Friday, July 30, 2021 at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.
Wayne's educational journey began in the one-room Colored School for African Americans in Ashburn, VA until it closed. Thereafter, he attended schools throughout Loudoun and Fairfax County until he received his high school diploma from Falls Church High School.
Wayne married his high school "sweetie," Carol Ann Pearson, on April 29, 1972, in Sterling, Virginia and to this union three children were born. Together they happily raised their family in Herndon, Virginia.
As a child, Wayne accepted Christ and was baptized. He was an active member of Greater Zion Baptist Church, Ashburn Virginia serving on the usher board, as a deacon, and wherever his assistance was needed. In August 1997 he preached his trial sermon at First Baptist Church Sterling, Virginia and was ordained by Bishop Leslie Patterson, Jr. In addition to the teachings from Bishop Patterson, Wayne received a certificate of Divinity from Jericho Bible College in Washington, DC.
Wayne was an active Christian who was devoted to the Lord. His passion for teaching the word was phenomenal and he would often teach bible study in his home. In July 1998 there was a need for Wayne to assist the late Reverend James E. Jefferies at Peace Baptist Church, Dunn Loring, Virginia. He moved his membership to Peace Baptist Church, serving as an Associate Minister utilizing his gifts from the Lord. Reverend Bowles continued his ministry work under other pastors while at Peace Baptist Church to include the current pastor, Howard L. Butler.
Wayne touched many hearts, he was sought after to counsel, officiate a host of weddings and perform many eulogies for family and friends. He was selfless and would make himself available where needed. His smile was contagious, his laugh was infectious, and his spirit was genuine.
He enjoyed fishing, watching old western movies, cooking, spending time with his loved ones, and driving. He was a walking GPS, giving driving directions to anywhere in the US. Wayne was an avid coffee drinker which he passed down to the next generation.
Wayne had many talents. He was employed by companies to include CW Wright Construction Company, William A. Hazel, Imark Corporation, and Cavalier Logistics until he began his entrepreneurship journey. He was owner and CEO of HIS Way Transportation and C&W Enterprise.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Edythe Bowles, sister, Brenda W. Terrell; two brothers, Samuel Edward Bowles, Jr., and James Timothy Bowles, Sr. and a host of aunts and uncles.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Carol; their three children, Wayne Vinson Bowles (Shellie), Anitra LaVon Llano-Sierra (Vernon) and Edward Jermaine Bowles (Lucie); ten grandchildren, Shaun, Kevin, Ali, William, Wayne Jr., Olivia, Mariah, Samuel, Amaya, and Austin. Smith; aunt, Laura Bowles; uncle, Leon Thornton, a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
