Errol Cory Payton, Sr. (Age 51) of Nanjemoy, Maryland.

Errol Cory Payton Sr. entered into eternal rest on June 7, 2020. He was born on November 5, 1968 in LaPlata, Maryland to Emma Jean and William H. Payton of Nanjemoy, Maryland.

Errol accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the pastorate of the late Rev. William Leach of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Nanjemoy, Maryland.

Educated in the Charles County Public Schools, he graduated from Lackey High School. Later he was employed by KFC and became a supervisor for a number of years. He also attended Fortis College and fulfilled his requirements, receiving his Certificate as a Bio-technician with Honors. Later he became a truck driver.

Errol was a happy person, always with a smile on his face. He loved getting together with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, hunting and cooking. And let us not forget how much he loved to sing and listen to his old school music.

Errol was preceded in death by his grandparents; Effie and James Dorsey, Herbert Washington, Angeline (Gilbert) Bannister and James and Fannie Richardson; his aunts and uncles, Irene Savoy, Nannie Goldring, Lloyd Milstead Sr., Leon Bannister, Joseph Craig Jr. and Dennis Dinkins.

He leaves to cherish his fondest memories, a loving mother and father, Emma Jean and William Payton; one son, Errol Jr.; two grandsons, Corey Jaden and Damoney Kamryn Payton; his brothers and sisters, Kim (Lynna), William Jr. (Cathy), Linda, Rodney Sr (Dianica), Leslie (Kenneth) Payton and , Pedro and Jeffrey Henson; aunts and uncles, Betty Milstead, James Dorsey (Vivian), Anna Craig, Herman Keys (Mabel) Gilbert Bannister, Jr., Theresa Scott Woodruff (Thomas Jr), Mary Dinkins, Louise Farmer, Doris Devore, Isaiah and Wendy Bannister and Leroy Goldring; one great aunt, Annabelle Warren; nieces and nephews, Kyia, Keisha, Pierre, Martinique, Joshua, Malik, Marquise, Mikhaila, Rodney Jr., Elijah and Desmund; five great nieces; two great nephews; a special friend, Sharlene Goldring; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

His Viewing will be, 10:00 am until time of Service, 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 16, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A.  Interment, Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 11220 Holly Springs Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland 20662.
