Eric Michael Springs of La Plata, MD transitioned September 9, 2026.
A kind, genuine, devoted, forgiving, and resourceful man has rested his natural existence, transcended time on earth, and entered into eternity.
Our Eric was the youngest of three children born to Thomas and Helen Springs in Washington, D.C. He was not only a son, but the youngest brother to Darryl and Lisa, a father to Brianna, an uncle to Amber, Darian, and Ivana, a great uncle to Azariah, Amari, and another soon to come, while also holding deep bonds with aunts, uncles, a myriad of cousins, close friends, and colleagues.
From an early age, a close community of family had a hand in molding him to be intelligent, spirited, steady, and intentional. However, his contagious charm and infectious laughter was “all him”!
Upon graduation in 1990 from Potomac High School of Oxon Hill, MD, Eric entered the regulated public utility industry; first with Pepco, then, ultimately landing with Washington Gas. There, he swiftly moved through the technical ranks before entering management. Eric ended his tenure of 22.5 years as a Lead Gate Station Specialist, wherein he trained all technicians and managed the company’s odorant program. Eric was exceptional in his work, following safety protocols, taking care of his colleagues, all while having a good time!
Outside of family and work, three things brought Eric immense joy; watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys, watching great movies and shows repeatedly, and racing whatever sports car he owned from one traffic light to the next!
As a confidant to many, his presence and smile illuminated every room he entered. Many times, his sense of humor, quick wit, and hearty laughter put the issues of life to flight and rendered them powerless.
At 54 years old, regardless of what he faced, he never lost sight of the One Who is in control; our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
