Eric Van Quentin Johnson (Ricky), 66 of Waldorf, Maryland formerly of La Plata, Maryland entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 8, 2018. Born April 30, 1951 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late James Percy and Margaret (Williams) Johnson. Eric lived his early years in Baltimore, MD until his family relocated to La Plata, MD in December 1967. He graduated from La Plata High in June 1971. Eric answered to a variety of nick names, aka Pee, P Funk, Slick Rick, Ricky, EVQ and Chico. He joined the Marines on June 17, 1974 and was honorably discharged on February 5, 1978. He worked for G & B Insulation and other various jobs. Ricky enjoyed spending his time with his family. One of his favorite Pees as he would call his niece and nephews was Little Jimmy. Little Jimmy would take him to Church, the store and cut his hair whenever he could. His favorite foods were Pepper Steak, Chitterlings and spicy foods. He also loved a cold beer, wine and cigarettes. Ricky loved sitting back with Little Jimmy eating Chinese food and watching football and basketball games while telling stories of the things he used to do. He also enjoyed talking about his late wife Virginia.
Eric is preceded in death by his parents James and Margaret Johnson, sister Andrea (Johnson) Thomas and brother Michael Everett Johnson.
He is survived by 2 brothers James (Chucky) and Marc Johnson; 3 sisters Adrianne Slater, Michelle (Yvette) Willett and Yvonne Johnson; 4 nephews Sean Thomas (Sonya), Thomas (Tony) Slater, Jr. (Kia), Keith (Kip) Battle (Summer) and James Willett, Jr. (Ceceila); 3 nieces Juanita Green (Jason), TeCora Stephens and T'Aira Slater; 6 great nephews Justin Alston, Thomas Slater, III, Keith (Xavier) Battle, Kharson McCall, Jason (Myles) Green and Jaxen Battle; 6 great nieces Tamia and Kassidy Slater, Jada and Jamya Green, Jessica Thomas and Tatyana Better; 2 brothers-in- law, Thomas Slater, Sr. and James Willett, Sr., 1 uncle, Nolan Williams, 3 aunts, Velma Milburn, Mary Williams and Lillian Jones, 1 great aunt, Odel Thomas and a host of other relatives and friends.
