Celebration of Life

Ellis Preston Dyson, Sr. was born August 19, 1964 in Washington, D.C. to Doris Johnson and the late Harold Dyson.  Ellis entered into eternal peace on Sunday, December 13, 2020.

He was educated in Prince George's County Public schools and graduated from Friendly High School in 1982.  He met his high school sweetheart Robin Newman and from this union, they were blessed with four children, LaTasha, LaKia, Ellis Jr. and Eric Dyson.

Ellis held various positions within the civil engineering industry with a select number of organizations. Although construction was his passion, he would tell anyone, he was indeed a "jack of all trades", and no job is too big or too small for him to master.

Ellis, a self-proclaimed grill master, he often would be the head chef in charge of overseeing the grill at all family functions-- asking everyone to come taste and enjoy his famous ribs he spend all day preparing.  His favorite pastime was always spending time with his family and friends.

Left to cherish his memories is his mother, Doris Dyson; His children, LaTasha, LaKia, Ellis Jr., Eric Dyson & Anton Queen; Aunt, Daisy Johnson; Brother, Maxie Harris; Sisters, Ivy Harris, Nadine Dyson, Doreen, Darlene and Charlene King; Grandchildren, DeSean Bennett, Ja'Sai Harley, & Taylor Washington; Nieces and Nephews, Portia, Darnita, John, & Justin; Devoted relatives and friends, Mark, Dwayne, Orlando, Ricky, Angela, Mike, Howard & Ronny,

Viewing, 10:00 a.m. until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 28, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston  Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.  Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, 13472 Poplar Hill Road, Waldorf, Maryland 20601.

On Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. a link will be placed below to live stream the service.
