Obituary

Ellis Eugene Butler departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 3, 2020 at Pineview
Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clinton, Maryland. Ellis was 87 years of age at the time of his death.

Ellis was the 7th of 9 children born to the late Robert and Marie Butler on November 18, 1932 in Charles County, Maryland.                                Ellis was baptized at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Marbury, Maryland.

Ellis attended the Charles County Public School System, graduating from Pomonkey High School. After
the completion of high school, Ellis enlisted in the military, joining the Army.  He was honorably discharged after serving two years.
After leaving the military, Ellis worked mostly in the Construction Industry.  He enjoyed going fishing, watching football, drinking coke sodas
and sitting under the famous tree in Marbury, talking, laughing and joking with his buddies, or whomever stopped by.  He enjoyed a nice life, until falling ill.

In addition to his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by three brothers, Nathan, Odell (Elizabeth), Francis (Rowe), four sisters, Irma Butler, Eloise Brown (Charles), Thelma Gholson (Hayward)and Marilyn Swann (Arthur).

Ellis leaves to cherish his memories; his daughter, Janice Dunnington; two grandchildren, Claytron Hall and De'Shunae Dunnington; one sister, Elenora Bland; two special friends, James "George" Day and Charles Shorter "Charlie Buck"; a special niece, Annette Coates and nephew, Donald Butler, Jr., other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640. Viewing, 11:00 a.m. until time of Service, 12:00 noon.  Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
