BRISCOE, ELLEN LOUISE (AGE 70) OF WALDORF, MD

Ellen Louise Briscoe, affectionately known as "Sally" by family, friends, and loved ones, was born November 21, 1945 to the late Charles "Eddie" Hemsley and Louise Eldridge in Mt. Victoria, Maryland. She peacefully transitioned to eternal life on August 27, 2016 at George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC.

Ellen was educated in the Charles County school system. Her employment included working in Food Service and as a Care Giver. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. The greatest influence in life was her loving husband of 51 years, Gonza, whom she met at a dance at Pat and Gee Gee's. Raising her children and enjoying her beautiful grandchildren were her proudest accomplishments. She loved family gatherings, eating crabs, playing Keno and Slots, as well as watching Steve Harvey and Family Feud on TV. Ellen was a kind hearted, outspoken, dedicated and most of all, loving person. Honesty was her most admired trait and her words of wisdom were "Idle time will get you only two places."

Ellen leaves to cherish loving memories, her husband Richard Gonza Briscoe, son, Garry Richard Briscoe, daughter, Rhonda Angela Briscoe and step-daughter, Jacqualine Chase, grandchildren; Kevin Briscoe, Michael Butler, Ga'Naea Briscoe, Brandon Butler, Garry Briscoe, Jr., and Gabrielle Briscoe, great grandchildren; Zoe Patterson, Kennedi Mackall and Khiree Jackson, daughter-in-law, Rekinah Briscoe, brothers; Edward Hemsley and Henry Lorrick, mother-in-law, Verlow Briscoe (deceased), father-in-law, Arthur Briscoe (deceased), sisters-in-law, Beatrice Hemsley, Mary Brown, Emma Day, Regina Briscoe, Delores Johnson, Hazel Briscoe, Clara Briscoe, Gladys Briscoe and Pearl Briscoe (deceased), brothers-in-law, James (deceased), Charles (deceased), Ambrose, Alfred (deceased), Robert, John, Melvin and Russell, aunt, Betty Barnes, uncle, James Barnes and a host of nieces and nephews.

Her viewing will be held from 10:30am until time of service 11:30am on Friday, September 2, 2016 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment Holy Ghost Catholic Church Cemetery, Issue, MD.
