Elizabeth Irene (Proctor) Swann, 90 of Bryans Road, Maryland.

Elizabeth Irene Swann was born to James Clinton Proctor and Margaret (Savoy) Proctor on December 20, 1934.  She was the 8th child of eleven children.

Liz (as some referred to her) was married to the late William Leroy Swann in December of 1952. Together they raised 11 children, 8 daughters and 3 Sons.

With so many children to raise Liz spent the majority of her life putting her children's needs before her own. She would spend many long hours cooking, cleaning, and making sure each child's hair was combed and their clothes were washed and pressed before sending them off to school. At times she'd have to put her chores on hold when summoned to school to pick up a child that had somehow gotten involved in a fight. She had a strong belief and love for God and made sure all of her children attended church each Sunday as well as Catechism on Saturday evenings. She was a strong, determined, and hardworking women.  She loved to crochet and spent many days playing cards and bingo with her children. Sometimes the games would end with someone being accused of cheating, lol. Liz was also a proud elder of the Piscataway Conoy Tribe and made sure her children knew and celebrated their heritage.  She often spoke of childhood memories of when her aunts nick named her 'La La' and would get her and her brother Joe to dance for them.  She said that they were the best dancers back then. Liz was the life of the party at whatever event she attended. One of her favorite places to hang out was at Lamont's Entertainment Complex on Sundays.  Some called her the "Dancing Queen" because of her love of dancing and the amount of energy that she had.  She loved the color Red and would always be dressed to the "T" whenever she went out.  She had a kind heart and would often give what she had to make others happy.  We all will definitely miss seeing Liz on the dance floor but we take comfort in knowing that she fulfilled her assignment here on earth and now she's dancing with her husband, daughter, aunties, cousins, friends and God in heaven.

Peacefully, Wednesday, July 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family, Elizabeth Irene Swann transitioned to eternal life at the Angel Assisted Living Residential Home in Waldorf, Maryland.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her Husband William "The One and Only" Leroy Swann, Daughter Joann Harley, Son-in-laws Ernest Robinson, William Savoy, Daughter-in-law Gloria Thompson, Granddaughter Ann Thompson, Grandsons; Marcel Swann, and Joseph 'Little Joe' Swann.

She is survived by her Daughters; Mary Robinson, Catherine Swann, Christine Savoy, Lavern (Ronnie) Heard, Cornette (Garnell) Thompson, Darlene (NL) Evans, and Elaine Swann. As well as 3 sons, Joseph Swann, Roosevelt (Marilyn) Swann and Jeffery (Yvette) Swann, Grandchildren;  Jason, Tamika, Tyvese, Tiny, Tydell, Andre, Melissa, Theresa, Dee Dee, Dewayne, Patricia, Shaun, Latrese, Jr, Jerome, Nathan, Angie, Tony, Dewayne, Tavius, Tyrone, Jhanae, Jalynn, Jhania, and over 35 great grands and 18 (soon to be 20) great-great grandchildren.

Family and Friends may visit with the family, Tuesday, August 12, 2025 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, August 13th from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, Maryland 20675.  Interment, Church Cemetery.
