Elizabeth (Jackson) Dunnington, 75 of Marbury, Maryland.
Elizabeth Jackson Dunnington was born, July 15, 1944 in Cheverly, Maryland to the late George Jerome Jackson and the late Martha Elizabeth Hackley.
She was educated in Prince Georges County Public Schools where she received her high school diploma from Fairmont Heights High School.
She started her career as a social worker with Charles County Department of Social Services where she worked for ten (10) years. Then she went to work as a substitute teacher for ten (10) to fifteen (15) years in Charles County. Liz as she was more affectionately called had an entrepreneurial spirit and became Co-Owner, Chief Operating Officer and Driver for Dink's Bus Service for over thirty (30) years until she became ill.
She married Clifford "Dinks" Dunnington, November 30, 1998. Together they enjoyed camping, eating out, watching their favorite baseball team "the Baltimore Orioles" and she was active in Dinks' former baseball team "the Pisgah Boo Boo's".
She accepted Christ early in her life and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member for over twenty (20) years. She served as President of the Pastoral Relations Committee and played a central role in fundraising. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She welcomed everyone in and was willing to help in anyway she could. She loved gospel music and was a big fan of the gospel group "Soul Survivors".
She enjoyed entertaining, eating crabs, cooking, decorating for Christmas, and collecting pigs. She had over five thousand (5,000) pigs in her collection. Other personal interest included crocheting, watching Westerns and supporting the Lackey High School Chargers. She especially loved cuddling with her dog, Little Bits and her cat, Happy.
She generously donated to Life Styles of Maryland Foundation Inc. and other charitable organizations.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her youngest sister, Emma "Skeet'' McKnight. On Monday, August 12, 2019, Liz transitioned to eternal life in the comfort of her home in Marbury, Maryland.
Left to cherish many memories are her husband, Clifford "Dinks" Dunnington; daughters, Gloria Montgomery and Anissa "Peaches" Washington (Harry Jr. "NuNu"); step-daughter, Tara "Tinka" Batts; five grandsons, Kareem Mohamednur (Mel), Kofi Batts, Harry "Tre", Dalano and Mekhi Washington; five great-grandchildren with another great grandchild on the way; sister, Alease "Jackie" Thomas (John); niece, Joneis Thomas (Sterling) and nephew, Stuart McKnight and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing, 9:00 a.m. until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 5560 Pleasant Grove Road, Marbury, Maryland. Interment Church Cemetery.
