Obituary

CARTER, ELIZABETH "BETTY" ANN (AGE 77) OF FORESTVILLE, MD

Elizabeth Ann (Greenfield) Carter, affectionately known as "Betty" or "Ms. Liz", was born on October 1, 1938 in Bryantown, Maryland to the late Dorothy (Washington) Brown and the late James Edward (Ebby) Greenfield. On Thursday June 23, 2016, Elizabeth peacefully entered into eternal rest at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC surrounded by her family.

She grew up in the Charles County area and attended Charles County schools to graduate from Pomonkey High School. Immediately after graduation she entered into NASA and retired in the year 1995 after working for over 35 years serving in various positions.

Elizabeth acknowledged early in her life the acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior by being baptized and receiving her Confirmation within the Roman Catholic Church. She worshipped at several churches to include St. Mary's Star of the Sea, St. Theresa of Avila and Imani Temple African-American Catholic Congregation.

Elizabeth married the late Benjamin Keith Carter, Sr. and from that union had three children, Terrall, Benjamin Jr., and Rhonda, who loved her dearly. She taught her children how to love, family values, honesty, hard work and to trust in God.
Betty enjoyed her independence and would quickly let you know that she was in charge of everything. Clothes and more clothes was her claim to fame. She was known for her classy style and would not leave her house until everything was perfectly coordinated and matched. She enjoyed her birthdays by telling everyone not her real age because surely she looked wonderfully younger. So, when she stepped out – heads would turn that is why we call her our "Queen."

She loved being in the presence of people and spending her time being a friend to so many by welcoming them into her home. Her home was one of the gathering places for lots of family and friends. She opened her heart to so many namely her next door neighbors known as "Dottie and dem", Bonnie (making sure she had a meal), the late Raymond Womack "Doc", being a true friend at all times. One of her greatest joys was playing cards and winning. We all knew she loved eating crabs.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her brother Wendell Brown. There are no words that can express how much we LOVE YOU or how much we will miss you! We will forever remember you saying, "I LOVE YOU MORE."

She leaves to cherish her life: Terrall Crumlin, Benjamin Jr. (Carolyn), Rhonda (Roy) Hopson, sisters: Gladys Adams, Mary Christine Proctor, Rev. Dr. Ruby (James) Thomas; brothers: Elwood A. and William (Wendy) Brown; grandchildren: Rodney, Jerrall, Serena, Ruston, Kierra and Benjamin III, great grandson Rusean, Aunt: Margaret Thomas, and a host of relatives and friends.
Sometime talking to your best friend is the only therapy you need… Ruth Ann Estep, Marshall Gene Blair, Noble Whitney
