A Time to be Born:
Eleanor Viola Travers was born March 3, 1947 in Prince Georges County to the late William Courtney Travers and Blanche I. King. She was the 9th child born in a family of 11 children of Blanche. She was raised in Prince Georges County and attended Charles County Public Schools. She was a Dietary Aid for over 20 years at Southern Maryland Hospital.
A Time to Die:
On Tuesday, July 16, 2013, Eleanor departed this life at Genesis Healthcare LaPlata Center in La Plata, Maryland.
A Time to Love:
Eleanor leaves to cherish her loving children Rosslyn Travers (Meachie), Myra Travers-White (Tina), and Brent Travers (Man).
A Time to Plant:
Eleanor was a loving person, always positive, always offering words of encouragement and thinking of others; and always greeted you with a smile. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was the kind of person who was always there when you needed her. Eleanor always put her children and grandchildren needs before her own and was always thinking of ways to help them. She loved her family, friends and her church family (Gospel Union Church of Christ). In her spare time, she enjoyed making floral arrangements for family and friends.
A Time for Memories:
Eleanor was preceded in death by her seven brothers: Raymond, Harrison, LeRoy, Edward, Jerome, Lawrence, and William Travis: two sisters, Doris Mae King-Miles and Atla Patricia Brawner and two sister-in-laws: Octavia King and Margaret King.
A Time to Rejoice:
She leaves to cherish her loving memory along with her children, eight grandchildren, Erica Manuel, Eric Travers, Malachi Travers, Savion White, Dominique Travers, Malik Travers, Sayanni White, and Brent Travers, II; her special daughter and son-in-laws: Erin Travers and Fred White; one aunt Eudora Chisley; one uncle Randolph Bland, Sr., one brother John Travers and two sisters, Delores Johnson, Marion Jarmon; two brother-in-laws, Herbert (Buddy) Johnson and Clifford Jarmon; four sister-in-laws: Doris King, Dorothy Ferrell, Mary Florence Travers, and Mary Christine Travis (Godmother); one Goddaughter, Anita Travers Thomas, a special friend, Sarah Cobey; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and other special friends.
Viewing, 9am until time of Service, 11am, Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland.
Interment, Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland.
