Elaine Elizabeth Rodriguez (Age 85) of Petersburg, Virginia

Elaine Elizabeth (Thompson) Rodriguez was born on November 14, 1935, in Bel Alton, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband Evelio Rodriguez, father Daniel Adolph Thompson, Sr; mother Frances Louise Short Thompson; and brother Daniel Adolph Thompson, Jr.

Elaine grew up in Charles County where she was wed to Joseph Melvin Wheeler, Sr. Together they began raising a family in their home in Bel Alton and then lived on Ford's Drive in Pomonkey, MD. At an early age, the family then moved to Brooklyn, New York (NY). While there, Elaine acquired and maintained employment at the then Royal Globe Insurance Company. She later worked for the New York Stock Exchange.

Elaine loved people and would give the shirt off her back. But don't get it twisted 'cause she would get you straight with a quickness! She was the life of the party and loved to dance. She would say at any given time "I'mma have a cookout", tell you what she's having and have you grilling and cooking it. She was an avid bowler and in addition to sewing the attire she wore, she always purchased cloth shoes to dye to match the color shade of the dresses she made to attend the many cabarets and events put on by the league's bowling club(s). To all the neighborhood children who flocked to her home, she was affectionately known as Miss Elaine, Mama Elaine, Mama and Grandma. In later years, Elaine was remarried to the late Evelio Rodriguez and eventually migrated to Petersburg, VA where she worked and retired from the credit department of the retail furniture store Heilig-Meyers.

Elaine leaves to celebrate her life, her sister Frances (Tillie) Thompson; sister in love Diann Thompson; sister in love Virginia Cutler: children Renee; "Petey" Joseph, Jr (Melessia), Michael and Anthony Wheeler; (children in love) Curley (Anisa), Victor (Flo) and Shelton Cutler: grandsons Terence Lewis and Juwan Baker: granddaughters Shanice and Briana Wheeler: niece Bridget Thompson: nephew Daniel Thompson, III; Godson Andre Thompson: two favorite Aunts Elvia and Connie Thompson, as well as a host of family, friends, and acquaintances. Throughout her life's journey, a close friendship was maintained with "Cutler" (Virginia Cutler), Lila Lewis and Ike Jennings for over sixty plus years.
