Elaine Rosemary Harley "Sally" (61) of Clinton, Maryland, passed peacefully from this life, the evening of Friday, July 7, 2017 at Capital Caring Hospice in Lanham, Maryland, after a gradual decline in health. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
Sally as she was more affectionately called, was born in Cheverly, Maryland. She was the fifth (5
th
) child born to the late Elizabeth Anna Mae and Joseph George "Sonny Boy" Harley.
Sally was educated in the Prince George's County Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglas High School, Class of 1973. Her career began as a Contractor with NASA in Greenbelt, Maryland where she worked for 22 years. She also worked for Pitney Bowes for 5 years.
Sally loved having fun and laughing with family members at get-togethers' and going to Dover Downs Casino. She was a die-hard Washington Redskins fan and loved her oldie but goodie music. She was an excellent cook and everyone loved her Strawberry Shortcake.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, John Newman, Jr. in 2007, Joseph Harley in 1994, Denise Harley in 1966 and Veronica Harley in 2016.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one daughter, Michelle Harley, two grandchildren, Keith B. Smallwood, Jr. and Nia R Williams; her beloved and devoted fiance' of 34 years, Marvin T. Savoy, three sisters, Patsy, Iola, and Christina; three brothers, James, Thomas and William; Mary E. Butler whom she called Mama after her Mom passed away; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Prayers, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 14908 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, Maryland 20772 and 10:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, 8000 Woodyard Road, Clinton, Maryland 20735.
