A Profile of Life

Dorothy Louise Proctor (Polly) was born February 23, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late Ambrose and the late Agnes Proctor. She suddenly departed this life for eternal rest on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.

Dorothy was educated in the Prince Georges County School System. On February 11, 1961, she was joined in marriage to the late Theodore Morris Proctor. They shared forty-six lovely years together. From their union seven wonderful children were born; Marilynn Savoy, Patricia Proctor (Patty), Annette Swann (Annie), Janice Proctor (Baby Girl), Theodore Proctor (Reggie), Marvin Proctor and Brian Proctor (Baby Boy).

She enjoyed going to yard sales, playing checkers with her husband and spending time with family. Dorothy spent her whole life as a caring and loving wife, mother and homemaker.

In addition to her children, she is survived by one brother, James Ambrose Proctor, Jr., four sons-in-law, Alan Savoy, Thomas Proctor, Jr., Anthony Swann and Thomas Proctor III; three daughters-in-law, Patricia Proctor (Trish), Vershetta Proctor and Jacquelyn Proctor; eleven grandchildren, Tiffany, Mark, Angela, Tonya, Krystal, Victoria, Maravia, Michael, Katrina, Mauriel and Moriona; one step-grandchild, Dazmine, five great grandchildren, Taniyah, Xavier, Talaysha, Ryan, Jr. and Aaliyah and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, John William and sister, Mary Theresa.

Viewing, 9am until 10:30am; Mass of Christian Burial, 11am, Friday, January 17, 2014 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 2401 Brinkley Road, Fort Washington, Maryland 20744. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, Maryland.
