Doris Cecilia Branson, 79, of Indian Head, Maryland
Doris Branson, 79, gained her heavenly address on Saturday, September 30, 2023, due to natural causes painlessly at Genesis of Waldorf Center. She was truly one of God's miracles, overcoming ten strokes, one full-blown heart attack, six stints, as well as diabetes with complications over many years.
Doris was born September 6, 1944, in the District of Columbia to the late Joseph Branson, Sr. and Helen Carter-Branson. She grew up in Marbury, Maryland where she attended Pomonkey High School. Doris and her life long partner, Joseph Lewis Thompson, lived in Indian Head Maryland where they raised their three children Dedra Branson, Quinton Branson, and Darryl Queen.
Doris worked at the Naval Ordnance Station in Indian Head, Maryland before spending many years running the Indian Head Laundromat for the Comstock family. She enjoyed spending time with the residents of the community at the laundromat, as well as working various odd jobs. Doris was well known for pressing hair on Saturdays. On Sundays she enjoyed attending church services, spending time at Earl & Goldie King's residence, Kings Beach, Pisgah Bo Bo Baseball games, dancing at Bob Waters Club, playing cards, and eating seafood. Her favorite TV shows were Family Feud with Steve Harvey, Matlock, Perry Mason, Gun Smoke, and Andy Griffith.
She enjoyed spending time with all her extended family; the Thompson, King, Cobey and Bennett families. Doris cherished spending the holidays at her sister Ann's house with her nieces and nephews. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting blankets, word search puzzles, and house hopping visiting her friends and family.
