Dorcas Moradeyo of Waldorf, Maryland transitioned on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Dorcas Olubukola Moradeyo passed away on September 2, 2026. She will be remembered as a woman filled with the love of Jesus, whose joy, laughter, and steadfast faith touched the lives of many. She was known as a prayer warrior with a heart full of love, and people called her throughout the day asking for prayer because that was so naturally what she gave. Her life was marked by devotion, generosity, and a deep desireto encourage and gather those she loved. As a nurse, Dorcas provided care for many, no matter the location. Her love of Jesus was shown through the work of her hands and in the way she served others with compassion. She gave of herself freely, both through her time and her resources, and she was loved by many. Her church family was very dear to her, and her faith remained the steady foundation of her life.
Dorcas’s educational journey included Moslem Grammar School in Odinjo, Ibadan, Oyo State College of Education in Ila Orangun, and Radiance College of Nursing School in Washington, DC. These chapters of learning helped shape a life of service that would bless so many. Those closest to her will remember the rhythms of love and faith that defined her days: breakfast every morning before school, going to church every Sunday and Wednesday, and the constant way she drew family together. She loved being surrounded by family and had a special longing for grandchildren. Through every season, she stood strong in faith, never giving up, always trusting, always praying.
She is survived by Bunmi Moradeyo; her children, Mary Moradeyo, Samuel Ogunjumo, and Joseph Ogunjumo; and her sister, Comfort Oyelakin. She also leaves behind the enduring love of family members whose lives were strengthened by her prayers, her presence, and her determination to keep family close. In the bond shared among them, her memory will continue to live warmly and faithfully.
Dorcas was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah (Yisa) Abeke, and her father, Jimoh Olasimbo.
Dorcas Olubukola Moradeyo leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and love. She was always reaching out, always praying, always giving, and always reminding others of the strength that comes from trusting God. Her laughter, her kindness, and her unwavering devotion to Jesus will be cherished by all who knew her.
