TURNER, DONALD ALEXANDER
On January 20, 1953, Donald Alexander Turner, affectionately known as "D.T." was born to Shirley Duckett in Washington, D.C.
He was educated within the Charles County school system, graduating from La Plata High School in 1971.
He was employed as a Security Guard by SOS Security working at the Verizon Store. When not at work, Donald enjoyed going to the racetrack. He loved watching fast cars. He had no favorites; he loved them all. He also enjoyed watching the Redskins, and playing lottery and keno. He cherished his friendships and appreciated the time spent visiting with his mother.
He was a great dad who also was kind, loving, affectionate, strong willed and goodhearted. He was a loving grandfather and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.
In addition to his love for the racetrack, Donald spent time at Ronnie Copsey's Gas Station, hanging out with friends.
Joseph "Jo-Jo" and Amina "Meenie Jones has a great influence on his life. He had other special friends as well, such as Ronnie Copsey, Robert "Hambone" Copsey, Thomas "Babe" Sweetney, Kenny Simms, Mark Butler, Cliff "Slo-poke" Sweeny and Anthony "12" Chase.
Donald will be remembered by his family and friends for his smile and his great talks.
He joins in glory, his late sister, Sheilah Morris, grandparents, Mary and Robert Turner and aunt, Helen Turner.
In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his children, Denise Thompson, Twana (Robert) Fortune, Paul (Michelle) Thompson, and George Thompson, grandchildren, Joseph and Amina Jones, Myah, Addison and Andrew Baylor, sisters, Melody Barnes, Cheryl Short and Angela (Charles) Williams, brothers, Larnel and Wayne (Janice)Turner and Joseph Duckett, Sr. (Tabitha), nieces, nephews, special friend, Anita Thompson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
His viewing will be held from 9am until time of service 11am on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640.
