DONALD EVERETT MATTHEWS (AGE 67) OF FORT WASHINGTON, MD.

On Monday January 30, 2017 Donald "Mikey" Everett Matthews, a loving father, uncle, brother and friend departed his earthly life.

Mikey was born in Charles County Maryland on August 23, 1949 to the late Nettie "Sister" Mack and the late Joseph Branson, Sr. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Washington D.C. Mikey received his education through the Charles County School System. He was a member of the school basketball team from the sixth grade until he graduated from Pomonkey High School in 1967.

Mikey began his career at Ely's Department Store in Indian Head Maryland. He later worked at Friendly High School and Howard University Hospital for over 30 years, where he later retired. Mikey enjoyed oldies but goodies, basketball, hand dancing, playing cards, and watching The Washington Redskins.

In addition to his parents Mikey was preceded in death by his sisters Linda Matthews-Aukard and Ann Ragland; brothers, William "Jr" Mack; Bernard "Skipper" Matthews, and Joseph "Joe" Branson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Yvonne Matthews; son, Michael Matthews; daughter, Lisa Daniels; five grandchildren; Nicole Mosley, Tomeicka Branson, Mikael Matthews, Janiyah McGriff and KyMani Matthews; 3 great grandchildren; Jaylan, Ahmir and Jace Koroma; six sisters, Lorraine (Betsy) Mack, Patricia (Diane) Johnson; Sheila, Renee, Marsha (Kay) and Karen Matthews, Doris Branson and Betty Day; one brother, Charles Branson; two aunts, Agnes "Jean" Smith and Rose Matthews; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
