IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diane "Spanky"
Gray
November 28, 1967 – August 12, 2023
Diane "Spanky" Gray (Age 55) of Bryans Road, Maryland
Diane "Spanky" Gray was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on August 12, 2023 at her home in Bryans Road, Maryland at age 55.
Diane was born in Brooklyn, New York and spent her early years in Rison, Maryland. In elementary school she moved to Indian Head, Maryland, where she spent her childhood and young adulthood. It was there where she met the love of her life, Chris, with whom she shared a loving relationship with for almost 40 years. Within those 40 years, they shared 33 years of marriage and four daughters.
A hard-working woman, Diane was employed at the Indian Head naval base from 1987 to 2023. When she wasn't working, she enjoyed spending time with her family, reading books, crocheting/knitting, paint-by-numbers, completing word finds, watching British comedies and true crime/mystery series such as Matlock, Murder She Wrote, NCIS, and Bones. On the weekends, she enjoyed hanging out and running errands with her mom, Betty. Her children remember her as a fashionable and fiercely independent "no nonsense" woman, who was protective and supportive. She would do anything for her girls.
Diane was blessed with a large family who loved her dearly. Her memory will live on through her surviving family members: her mother, Betty Wills; her husband, John "Chris" Gray; Daughters: Brittney Gray (Jarel), Jasmine Gray (David), Christian Gray and Zariah Gray; Siblings: Sharon Wyatt-Davis (Bob), Avery Wills (LaWanda), Lonnie Wills, Tony Wills and Thomas Yates; Nieces: De'Ana Williams (Sean), Jamia Washington, Emani Hart, Averyanna Wills and Kiara Wills; Nephews: Avery "AJ" Wills, Jr., Thomas Wills, Camren Wills, Mother-in-law Adelaide Datcher, sisters-in-law Deborah Dixon, Gail Thoms and Ira McNeil and brother- in-law Ivan Gray. She leaves extended family members to cherish her memory including Leonard Harvey (Dorothy "Dot" Harvey, deceased), David Harvey, Leonard "Lee" Harvey, Joseph Harvey, Linda Gonzalez and Lori Harvey along with a host of many more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas "Tommy" Wills and her grandmother Henrietta "Hen-Ann" Warren.
