Devone Cooper's Program  

 Devone Antonio Cooper,  Age 51 of La Plata, Maryland.

Devone Antonio Cooper was born, January 2, 1970 in LaPlata, MD. He was the only child of Michael Proctor and Mary Linda Cooper.  Devone was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD. He attended public schools in Charles County, MD and graduated from Maurice J. McDonough High School in 1988.

He went on to study at Advance Inc. in Arlington, VA where he received a certificate as a Records Technician.  In 2000, he began working as an Administrative Coordinator for National Public Radio (NPR).  In 2016, Devone received his CDL License and started working for Van Go. He later worked for BP & Son.

Devone had many hobbies. One of his favorite hobbies was cooking.  He learned to cook, from his maternal grandmother. Soon he was cooking for the large family gatherings. He loved cooking so much that he opened his own business, named Devone's Café.  Devone and his friends enjoyed feeding the homeless during Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

He also loved doing things with his family.  Devone and his mother would go for rides on the weekend.  He joined the Knights of St. John International and was known as Sir Knight.  He loved attending the meetings with his maternal grandfather and helping the commandry with their activities. Devone was a friend to many and he would famously respond, "I got your back," in anyone's time of need.  Devone always assisted others with a smile on his face and a pleasant attitude.

He departed this life on July 6, 2021 at University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center surrounded by family and friends.  Even in his death, Devone's last act of kindness was to assist others in living a better quality of life through the Organ Donor Program.

He was preceded in death by  grandparents:  Mr. & Mrs. Francis X. Cooper, Sr. and Mr. & Mrs. Mason Proctor;  aunts:  Elvira Roman Proctor and Barbara Matthews.

He leaves to cherish his memory  mother  Linda Cooper and  father  Michael Proctor (Denise);  sisters  : Tracey Proctor, Tenise Pope (Christopher), Michel Proctor, Joselynn Ishmall (Dewayne) and Jessica Proctor;  great uncle:  Ignatius Cooper (Ruth);  uncles:  Junior, Curtis, and David Cooper, Mason "Buck" Proctor, Sterling Proctor and Quinton Proctor;  aunts:  Gloria Cooper, Valerie Butler (Clarence) and Janice Proctor McClean; 23 nieces & nephews; 12 great nieces & nephews, and a host of cousins, and friends.

His Viewing will be, 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am, Friday, July 16, 2021 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646.  Interment, church cemetery.
