Devin Simmons, 44, of Marbury, Maryland

Devin Gerrell Simmons was born to Gale Thomas and Kevin Simmons  on August 26, 1978 in LaPlata, Maryland. He slipped quietly from our earthly presence in the early morning hours on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Inova Fairfax Hospital, in Fairfax, Virginia. He was surrounded by his mom Gale Thomas and auntie/mom Jean Smoot.

Devin attended the Charles County Public Schools and graduated from Lackey High School in 1995.   He was employed by County Manners working with the owner, his long-time close friend Jeremy Plemons. He enjoyed and loved working on the Food Truck where he conversed with the community.  He had a love for working on cars where he gained his auto mechanic experience and skills from his late Pop Pop (Harold Thomas, Sr).  His hobbies consisted of race cars, dirt bikes, 4-wheelers and fishing.

Devin accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Marbury, Maryland on August 24, 1986.

Devin was admired and loved by his family especially his cousins (Meya Thomas, Shira Thomas, JaNene Dorsey, and Ebony Williams) that he grew up with in the family home. He was well known and liked by many in the neighborhood.  His true LOVE was for his grandmother Ruth Simmons and Jean Smoot whom he called his auntie/mom (Felicia).

Devin was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Harold Thomas Sr. and Joseph Oliver Simmons; grandmother Betty Thomas and Uncle Lionel Thomas.

Devin leaves to forever cherish his memory, a loving and dedicated mother, Gale Thomas and his dad Kevin Simmons; grandmother, Ruth Simmons, one (1) sister, Brandy (Birdie) Cole, two (2) nieces, Erin & Ryenn; and one (1) nephew, Robert; eight (8) aunts, Margaret (Nee'Cee) Thomas, Linda Gray, Barbara Thomas, and second auntie/mom Jean (Greg) Smoot, Patricia (Chester) Turner, Carolyn Simmons, Maureen (Martin) Diggs & Rita Simmons and one (1) uncle, Harold Thomas, Jr.  one (1) godchild, Tirell Queen, a host of great aunts, great uncles, cousins, family and friends.

His Viewing will be, 9:00 a.m., until time of Service, 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 12, 2022 Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church , 5560 Pleasant Grove Road, Marbury, Maryland 20658.  Interment, Immediately following Services at the Church Cemetery.
