RANSOME, DESIREE (AGE 56) OF WHITSETT, NORTH CAROLINA PREVIOUSLY FROM PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, MARYLAND
Desiree Ransom of Whitsett, North Carolina, was born September 22, 1957 to the late Edison Ransome and the late Mary E.J. Howell Ransome in Manhattan, New York.
She was educated in the New York school system and was a 1975 graduate of Morris High School, Bronx, New York.
Desiree served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was later employed by the District of Columbia Department of Corrections, from which she retired November 30, 2007. Retiring and then building and decorating her own home were her proudest accomplishments.
Desiree loved to sing. During her younger years she would sing with friends. Some of her greatest interests were music and travel. Her wardrobe was well put together, especially the matching purses and shoes. She believed in family unity and enjoyed spending time with her nieces, attending cookouts, weddings, reunions and parties. The greatest influences in her life were Jesus Christ and family. Desiree was passionate about equality for all men and participated in Community Outreach Programs. She was very proud of her personal contribution to her community and HOA.
Desiree will be remembered for the love she shared with family and friends and as a loyal, strong willed, friendly, ambitious and fun loving person who had the gift of organization. She kept a perfectly organized file cabinet which held all her important documents and she always knew where her laptop, car keys, diploma, CD's and DVD's were.
On Thursday, May 8, 2014, at her residence in Whitsett, North Carolina, Desiree entered into eternal rest.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Simora Ransome and brothers; David Ransome and Robert Howell.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories, her sisters, Sandra Lee Grant and Diane Kelly; aunts, Pearl Howell and Vernice Hudson; uncle, Briscoe Ransome; nieces, Jennifer Grant-Whitaker, Shona Fields, Tamara Kelly, Olyvya Kelly, Renee Howell, Carla Howell and nephew, Karrem Ransome Gibson; a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and close friends.
Her viewing will be held from 10am until time of service 11am, Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Victory Christian Ministries, International, 3911 St. Barnabas Road, Suitland, Maryland 20746.
Burial will take place in the Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington, North Carolina.
