DeSales Joseph Cole, 86, of Waldorf died July 14, 2003, at Civista Medical Center, La Plata, Maryland. He was a farmer until his retirement.
Born July 7, 1917, in Dentsville, he was the son of the late Joseph Daniel Cole and Mary Agnes Dorsey Cole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Webster, Wade, James and Oden.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Jane Bush Cole, and 10 children, Benjamin, Wi1son, Mitchell, George, Clinton, Ruby Farmer, Zelder Holton, Aline Shenberger, Agnes Brawner, and Linda Cole; daughters-in-law Jacqueline, Darlene, Denise, and Vanessa; sons-in-law Sylvester Holton, Ed Shenberger and Earl Brawner; twenty-eight grandchildren Helen, Crystal, Joseph, Amyah, Shawn, O'Brien, Sherard, Leah, Miriam, Timothy, Elsworth, Tito, Nathan, Rebecca, Levi, Solomon, Pansy, Ray, Joy, Candy, Kurtina, Clifton, Andre, Anthony, Jeffery, Nakia, Nicole, Kelly, and Myiesha; and twenty great-grandchildren; Michael, James, Jasmine, Ebony, Amyra, Raja, Nathan, Jonae, Dominic, Kiandrea, Jermonte, Shaina, Amon, Joshua, Diamond, Jaide, R.J., Amyah, and Jacelle; sisters Edna Price and Gertrude Cooper; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until time of service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2003 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Newport, Maryland. Father Fred MacIntyre will officiate. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Thornton Funeral Home, Pomonkey, MD.
