On Monday, May 23, 2022, Derrick Lee Hill transitioned from earth to glory. He was born on December 4, 1964 in Washington, D.C. to the late Houston and Elizabeth Hill. Derrick attended Prince Georges County Public Schools in Fort Washington neighborhoods. While in high school, Derrick was a star basketball player. After completing his education, he joined the United States Marine Corp. After completing his tour of duty, he held various jobs throughout the Washington DC Metropolitan area. While his Dad was a Cowboys' fan, Derrick was true to the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders.

Derick was preceded in death by his parents and one son Larenta McFarland.

He leaves to cherish his memory:  son, Derrick L. (D.J.) Hill; two brothers, Edward Hill and Davy Hill; one sister, Darlene Hill-Smith (Stephen Smith); two nieces,  Sadé Smith and Brittany Smith; three nephews, Trabell Smith, Tamarco Smith and Travon Smith; loving cousins, Caroline Fowler and Costella Brickhouse; special friends, Gertrude (Nee Nee) Banks, Kent and Kory Russell-Brown, Judith Weir, Leroy Dixon and Tracy Jester; and a host of family and friends.

Friends and Family Gathering 11:00 am, Saturday, June 18, 2022 until time of Service at 12:00 noon in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, PA, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland 20640.
