Celebration of Life
Derrick Michael Bennett

On June 24, 1984 Derrick Michael Bennett was the second child born to Gregory Sr. and Terri Bennett in Clinton, MD. Derrick was a beacon of light to his family since birth. With such a jovial spirit, infectious smile, and his continuous comedy, Derrick was a joy to be around.

Derrick attended Charles County Public Schools where he developed a love for many sports. As a young child, he played Little League Baseball and Football. This love for sports carried over into high school where he became an avid football and basketball player. He also excelled as a key player for his school's wrestling team. Derrick graduated from Westlake High School in 2002. At Westlake High he was widely known for his outgoing personality, and was truly admired by his peers.

Derrick and his family attended Journey of Faith Church. With his outgoing personality, he obtained his first job with Giant Food while still in high school. He was truly fascinated with "The Automobile"! That fascination soon nurtured knowledge for restoring and maintaining them. He was blessed to obtain various jobs such as an auto mechanic leading him later to becoming the owner of successful businesses. All through school, Derrick was known by his given name, but after graduation his friends affectionately began to call him "Midnight". He named his first business "Midnight Towing & Transport". His second trucking business came shortly after the birth of his son "Triple B Trucking" Short for baby boy Bennett.

Family was truly special to Derrick. He anxiously looked forward to the many family reunions, which often required a road trip for him and his family.

After a two year courtship with the love of his life, Katrina Simpson, they united in marriage on June 26, 2010. In true Derrick form, the marriage was held at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. From this union the couple was blessed with one son, Derrick Jr. Derrick sincerely loved his family.

On Friday morning, July 12, 2013, Derrick crossed over the threshold of life into his heavenly home, after a lengthy illness.

Derrick is predeceased by his grandmother, Elizabeth Bennett and grandfather, Alfred Davis Jr.
